Warmth in the seating area
The seating side wants the opposite treatment: lower levels, warmer appearance, nothing visible from a chair. A perimeter cove, a slot above a banquette back, and a low run under a bench edge cover most layouts. Hold one nominal color temperature across them, and check the corner seats, since a run above a banquette is often visible to the person opposite even when it is invisible from the door.
Day to evening control for cafe LED strip lighting
Most cafes want three settings: morning trade with counter, board, and seating all up; afternoon with the seating dropped; evening with the seating low, the board legible, and the counter mid range.
A tunable line lets the white appearance shift with those settings rather than only the level. Keep the methods apart, since a phase cut wall dimmer and a low voltage controller do not belong on one circuit unless the documentation allows it. Splash zones, steam, and the exact IP rating
The run near the espresso machine, the sink, and the ice well sits in a different environment from the one over the banquette. Specify the exact IP rating for those positions rather than accepting a general water resistant description, and check that the whole system suits the location: strip, connections, end seals, driver enclosure, mounting method, and local code. A strip rated for splash exposure joined with an unsealed connector is still an unsealed connector.
Steam is the part people underestimate. A run above a steam wand or a dishwasher door sees repeated condensation, so treat it as a wet position and confirm the rating with the supplier (verify these before you rely on them).
Durability behind a working counter
The back of house side is hard on materials: knocked by trays, wiped several times a shift, worked around at speed. Bare tape on a shelf edge lifts within months.
Aluminum channel with a lens gives a wipeable, impact tolerant edge and makes a damaged section replaceable without stripping the joinery. The LED channel and profile range shows the depth and lens options. Put drivers where a technician can reach them without emptying a cabinet.
Power, heat, and the electrical side
Counter, board, and seating runs go into one figure first. Each driver then carries watts per foot times that installed length, plus at least 20 percent current headroom (verify the current guidance). Voltage pairs exactly, 24V tape on a 24V driver, and every run returns in parallel, never in series, so the last banquette matches the first. Strips generate heat, and a tight slot above a hot counter adds to it, so an aluminum channel is worth fitting: it helps dissipate heat, protects the tape, and reduces but does not guarantee removal of visible dots, which also depend on LED density, channel depth, and diffuser. It is not mandatory. A licensed electrician handles the hardwired driver, the junction box, and any wall control, in line with the manufacturer instructions, local code, and the NEC where applicable.
