Digital RGB Pixel Strips vs Standard RGB LED Strips
The difference between digital RGB pixel strips and standard RGB LED strips is individual control. On a standard RGB strip, every LED shows the same color at the same time, so the whole run changes together. On a digital RGB pixel strip, small groups of LEDs, called pixels, are individually addressable through a built-in control chip, so different sections can show different colors at once, enabling chases, gradients, and animated effects. Digital pixel strips are more capable but need a compatible pixel controller and the correct data protocol, while standard RGB is simpler and well suited to solid colors and whole-strip color changes.

How standard RGB works
A standard RGB strip mixes red, green, and blue across the whole run, and every LED receives the same signal, so the entire strip displays one color at a time. You can change that color, fade between colors, or set a static hue, but the run always acts as a single unit. This makes standard RGB straightforward to control and a good fit for accent color, mood lighting, and color washes where the whole length should match. It pairs with an RGB controller that has the right number of channels for the strip.
