Color is the reason most people put strips in a game room, and it is worth being honest about what it does: it changes how the room looks. Nothing more. Treat saturated color as decoration and keep a good white option for the times you need to read a rulebook or find a dropped piece.

The biggest one is lighting everything at once. A room with every surface glowing has no focal point and reads flat, so keep some zones dark most of the time. The second is putting strips where players look straight at them, especially along the low edge of a screen wall or under a table rail at eye height when seated.
