LED Strip Wrong Color After Repair: What Went Wrong and How to Correct It
Three things account for the same complaint, and only one of them is free to fix. Either the wires went back in the wrong order at a color strip, or the replacement came from a different production batch, or it is a different item altogether: another series, another color temperature, or another output level that happens to fit the same channel. Start with the wiring order, because that one is free
On a single color product there is nothing to get wrong beyond polarity, and reversed polarity gives darkness rather than a color shift. Multiple channels change that completely.
A color changing strip carries a common conductor plus one per color; a tunable white strip carries a common plus warm and cool channels. Swap two at the splice and the tape lights obediently in the wrong color: ask for red and you get green, ask for warm and you get cool. Everything works, which is why it fools people.
Power down at the breaker or unplug the supply before you open the joint. Then compare the pad markings on both pieces, conductor by conductor, and refit in that order, not the order they happened to land in. Fit is per product, so if the joint needs remaking, check the tape width and pad layout accepted by anything in the connectors and wires category first (verify those details for the exact item). Anything hardwired, junction boxes and wall devices included, calls for a licensed electrician following the manufacturer's instructions, local code and NEC where relevant.
