Even light across every shelf
Uneven light is the fastest way to make a display look unfinished. A single spot leaves the ends of a shelf dim while the middle glows, and a row of visible dots draws the eye to the fixture instead of the goods. The fix is a continuous line running the full length of each shelf, mounted at the front underside so it washes down and forward over the products below. A dot-free COB line reads cleaner here than a row of points, though the format depends on output, viewing distance, diffuser, LED density, and control options, so judge it per product. Match strip lengths shelf to shelf and feed power so a long run does not sag at the far end.
Aiming light and avoiding glare
Glare is the enemy of a clean display. If a shopper sees the bright strip itself, or a hard reflection off glass and packaging, the product loses focus. The rule is to hide the source and light the goods. Tuck the strip behind the front lip of the shelf or inside a channel so the diodes stay out of the sightline, and aim the light down onto the product rather than out toward the aisle. In glass cases, shift the strip position until the highlight falls on the merchandise, not the customer's eye. A recessed channel with a diffuser both hides the strip and softens the beam.
Color temperature for the goods
Color temperature sets the mood and flatters different products in different ways. Warmer white around 2700K to 3000K tends to make wood, bread, gold, and warm-toned apparel look rich and inviting. A neutral white around 3500K to 4000K reads clean and suits cosmetics, electronics, and cool-toned goods. There is no single correct answer and no health claim involved, just how the product looks and the feel of the space. Pick the temperature that flatters what you actually sell, and keep it consistent within a fixture so the goods do not shift color from shelf to shelf.
Channels, heat, and a durable install
Retail fixtures get restocked, bumped, and cleaned, so the install needs to hold up. An aluminum channel protects the strip along a shelf edge, keeps the run straight and hidden, and gives a finished look instead of exposed tape. It also helps with warmth, since LED strips do generate heat in use and the aluminum helps dissipate it, which matters in an enclosed case with limited airflow. A channel with a diffuser also reduces, but does not guarantee removal of, visible dots, which also depend on LED density, channel depth, and diffuser. Treat it as protection and polish, not a cure for every hotspot or a substitute for the right strip.
Power, voltage, and safety
Match the voltage exactly. A 24V strip needs a 24V driver, never crossed with a 12V supply. Size the driver from the strip's watts per foot times the total installed length across the fixture, add current headroom of at least 20 percent (verify), and wire the constant-voltage runs in parallel, not in series, so every shelf stays evenly lit. In a large store you may split the load across several drivers rather than pushing one to its limit.
Any hardwired driver, junction box, or new circuit at line voltage is work for a qualified electrician where local code and commercial requirements apply, so follow the product instructions, local code, and the NEC. Low-voltage strip guidance is never permission to do unqualified line-voltage work.
