What Is 0-10V LED Dimming and When Is It Used?
0-10V dimming is a low-voltage control method that dims a light by sending a separate control signal, a voltage that varies from 0 to 10 volts, to a driver built to read it. As the signal moves toward 10 volts the light gets brighter, and as it moves toward 0 it dims. It is different from phase-cut dimming because it uses dedicated control wires rather than cutting the power waveform, and it is widely used in commercial and architectural projects for its smooth, consistent control. For an LED strip, it requires a 0-10V-capable driver and a matching 0-10V control.

How 0-10V dimming works
A 0-10V system uses two separate control wires that carry a low-voltage signal alongside the driver's power connection. The dimmer or control system sets a voltage on those wires somewhere between 0 and 10 volts, and a driver designed for 0-10V reads that level and adjusts its output to the strip to match. Because the signal is carried on its own wires rather than by altering the main power, the control is steady and predictable.
This is a fundamentally different approach from phase-cut dimming, which cuts the alternating-current waveform. With 0-10V, the power stays intact and a separate signal does the dimming. That separation is part of why it is valued in larger installations.
