How LED strip wall switch control actually works
An LED strip does not run on the 120V AC in your wall. It runs on 12V or 24V DC, which means something has to convert the voltage and something has to set the brightness. In the all-in-one approach, a single wall device is both the driver and the dimmer, taking 120V AC in and sending dimmed low-voltage DC out to the strip.
