The part people skip is verification. Whether a given controller answers to voice at all, and which voice assistants and app it works with, depends entirely on that specific product. So the single most useful step before you buy or install is to read the product page and confirm exactly what it supports, rather than assuming it behaves like something you have used before.

What voice-controlled LED lighting really requires
Voice control is a chain, not a single feature. A spoken command is picked up by a voice assistant, passed to the controller’s app or service, and then sent to the controller that drives the strip. Every link has to line up. The strip makes light, the controller drives it, the app connects the controller to a network, and the voice assistant sits on top of all of it. If any link in that chain does not support the others, the voice part will not work, however capable the strip is.
Because of that, voice support is a property of the controller and its software, not the strip. This is why two similar-looking setups can behave differently: one controller may respond to a voice assistant while another only takes a phone app or a handheld remote.
